We had a great time going out for our annual drive looking at Christmas lights. Aiden, Sariah, and I all wore our pj's and we had a couple blankets in the car. Wilson even went along! We sang Bare Naked Ladies version of Jingle Bells more times than I can count.
My favorite quote from the evening was heard from Krynne when all of the windows got fogged up. "Everyone! Stop breathing for 5 minutes!"
I love this night every year!

Yep, training has begun
On Monday I went for my first run/walk to train for the Lincoln half marathon. It went okay. I had my friend Mindy take me out because I needed help with the initial get out of the house. After our run around Holmes Lake, I was feeling pretty good so Wilson got a run to the dog park and back. Yesterday I was sore, but mostly manageable. My quads hurt when I sat and when I went down the steps.
But today was another story. Ugh. Krynne was kind enough to support me and go for a run/walk with me. We went 3 miles in 36 minutes, so a 12 minute mile over 3 miles. It was painful! My quads are killing me. I tried a little natural pain remedy, red wine. Hmm... not sure it's helping yet!
But I am thankful for my family's support. My darling hubby gave me awesome running socks for Christmas - one pair even says no blisters. Krynne was an awesome cheerleader today. She said she would even do the half marathon with me.

Seriously?
Seriously? Aiden says this ALL THE TIME. It drives the rest of us in the house absolutely crazy. And someone took his license plate. Too bad Aiden!
It's Christmas time
I went to Von Maur last night, and this is what I saw!!! I couldn't believe it, Easter isn't until April 8. This display was not up a week ago, and a friend said she was there on Sunday and it wasn't there. And although I absolutely love Easter - it's the basis of my faith, I think I would like to allow some celebration for Jesus' birth before we begin thinking about Easter.
Peer pressure vs. Bucket list
I did it. I signed up for the Lincoln Half Marathon. It's been on my bucket list as something I wanted to do sometime. And peer pressure made me do it this year. I have so many friends that are doing it, I felt silly saying, "Yeah, I want to but..." Yikes! It will be a great sense of accomplishment to be able to finish, and it will be awesome to be in good enough shape to attempt it! I just wish it were a 13.1 mile bike ride instead.

Emmett's first Santa Experience
Emmett was so cute sitting on Santa's lap. I'm not sure that he remembered to tell Santa what he wants for Christmas (everyone else's presents!), but he smiled nice for pictures.
Our Christmas Tree
After getting home from Omaha on Sunday, we went on our annual trip to Yonkey Tree Farm to pick out our Christmas tree.
This is the one!!!
And Emmett, the baby who only likes mama's milk, even enjoyed his first sugar cookie just like his big sisters and big brother.

Family wedding
And can you see the family resemblance?
And me and my love - all dressed up!

Turkey Day
Thanksgiving this year had two extra reasons to be special.
My dear husband and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary! I am the luckiest lady in the world!
And the second reason is that it was Emmett's first Thanksgiving! He had the perfect outfit.. turkey butt!
It's funny how difficult it is for Emmett to crawl across pillows; mom, dad, grandma and grandpa were laughing and enjoying watching it.
And of course, the turkey coma!

Baby Play Group
Today was another meeting of the baby playgroup. The little ones are so funny together. Today Emmett was the talker, Jack showed us his abs of steel, Molly practiced walking, and Conner wanted all of the toys to chew on. We wore Jack out - he took two naps so he missed the photo shoot.
Scooter
Emmett has reached another milestone... he is now mobile! He is a fast little scooter. We thought he was going to crawl a month ago, but he decided to wait a while, drop, and scoot. His top five favorite things to get into and play with are Wilson's water, Wilson's dog food, throw rugs, power cords, and the Bible shelf. We're now working on the word 'no'.

Congratulations are in Order
I am so proud of my children! And not just because I think they are the best kids ever, Aiden and Krynne deserve congratulations!
Aiden is the top popcorn seller in his Cub Scout Pack this year! Thanks to all who purchased popcorn from him. He is quite the salesman, and is grateful for the help of his sisters. For selling over $600 in popcorn he got to choose to either throw a pie in his den leader's face, or have his den leader throw a pie in his face. You can see which one he choose!
Krynne's big news is she made the varsity dive team for Lincoln East High School Yippee! She's excited and nervous to begin her high school athletic career.
Mom and Big Daddy are proud of you both!

Cousin Time
On Saturday Aunt Kristie had a lot of fun - she had all 5 of the kids at her house. Kaylee thinks Baby Emmett is just the greatest, and she really likes doing things with her older cousins too. They watched movies and played video games. Sariah said she had the best time.

Big Sisters
Big sisters are good for dressing you up in their hat and gloves....
Which isn't so bad after all ....

And big sisters use little brothers for - bench pressing!
Halloween
I was printing pictures tonight and really like this one from Halloween. Sariah is a zookeeper with a little tiger. She thought the mustache would be fun to wear, until she actually wore it and realized it was itchy!

Poor little guy
Well, we did not attempt to measure Emmett tonight to see how tall he was - we were too busy trying to catch the puke! He is the sweetest little guy when he's sick. No fever, great smiles, and lots of snuggles. Daddy calls it the newest version. We figure it must be the beta version of Emmett 2.1. Emmett 2.0 was the not-so-spitty version. Version 2.1 is a little buggy since there is barf, but the snuggles are awesome!
My first post
My friend Erica told me that I really should start my own blog. So here I am Erica!
My little guy turned 8 months old yesterday. I took him in to be weighed today and he is 19 pounds 5.8 ounces. I really expected he would be heavier than that, but I guess he is doing most of his growing in length to be tall just like his daddy. We will attempt to have him hold still long enough to get his height today.
Emmett's new parlor trick is to blow "zerberts" in the air, spraying spit as he does so. It's funny as they find new ways to make noise when they are young. Although that seems to continue until they are 9 year old boys!
